US Claims 'unprecedented' success in test for new fuel source

By Miguel Llanos, msnbc.com

Could the future of cleaner fossil fuel really be frozen crystals now trapped in ocean sediments and under permafrost?  Backed by an oil industry giant, the Obama administration recently tested a drilling technique in Alaska's Arctic that it says might eventually unlock "a vast, entirely untapped resource that holds enormous potential for U.S. economic and energy security."  Some experts believe the reserves could provide domestic fuel for hundreds of years to come.
Natural gas is released from methane hydrates.  Those crystals, known as methane hydrates, contain natural gas but so far releasing that fuel has been an expensive proposition.

New Products and Services

Mix-n-Match or Combo
As of our late summer release, mix-n-match or combo item discounts have been added.  This feature allows you to sell any combination of items and have an automatic discount added to the sale.  You can create unlimited groups and put an unlimited number of items into each group.  Discounts can then be set as a static price (for 3 for $5 type promotions), or a percentage off for percentage off promotions.  Maintenance is done from a single simple to use screen for both mix-n-match.  Discounts are applied automatically by the POS when enough eligible items have been added to a sale to fulfill a combo’s requirements.  Unlike other systems, this means nothing different is required of your cashiers, they simply add items to the sale and the POS identifies is a combo has been fulfilled.  This functionality and upgrade are included free for customers on current support contracts.  If you are don’t have a current support contract enquire to sales@e3tek.com about upgrading your system to add this new functionality.

New Automated QuickBooks
Our new automated QuickBooks export saves time while increasing accuracy. This new interface’s standard feature set includes the following:
  • Exports sales for Proprietary, On Account, Cash, Credit, Check and Other Payment types
  • Also exports Cost of Goods Sold and Inventory Asset adjustments for each transaction imported into QuickBooks
  • Cash sales exported are linked to the cashier that tendered the transaction
  • Customer discounts are exported as additional line items and can also be tracked in QuickBooks

Contact us to find out more about adding this functionality to your system.

Synchronization – How Does It Work?

If you have a Synchronization Server, chances are you’ve wondered how the whole process works. Here is a description of Triple E Technologies Synchronization (also known as OneTouchSync) and how it works:

  • Synchronization is the sending and receiving of data from many locations to one central location for storage and to maintain data integrity between locations.
  • Synchronization with Triple E Technologies requires a central server (called the Synchronization Server or Home Office computer) and any number of individual site computers.
  • The Synchronization Server stores all of the Customer and Card data, including any tax exemptions, special discounts or other pricing, product restrictions, etc.

    • All of these elements synchronize (send out) to the individual site computers on a schedule that is defined either by you or by the default intervals (five minutes is the default).
    • One thing to keep in mind when modifying your Customer or Card data is that you are only able to change or add these elements at the Synchronization server level. If you attempt to change any of this data at the site computer level, an error will be logged.
  • The individual site computers that receive Sales data from either a Triple E or other POS system, Pedestal or CRIND synchronize this data (send out) to the Synchronization Server.

    • The Synchronization Server then stores the Sales data from each individual site computer for ease of reporting, exporting, etc.
    • Each site has its own identity (site name) that groups the sales to each site location.
  • Synchronization is customizable

    • Triple E can start or stop the synchronization of any element in the synchronization pool: Customers, Customer Drivers and Vehicles, Customer Pricing, Gift Cards, Private Cards, Private Card Restrictions, and Sales data
    • Triple E can define new synchronization elements if required. Ex: Fuel prices when all synchronized computers will have the same fuel pricing every day
  • Synchronization is easily turned off by right-clicking the OneTouchSync icon in the lower right-hand corner of the site computer and selecting “Exit”
  • Synchronization can be manually started by right-clicking the OneTouchSync icon in the lower right-hand corner and selecting “Manual Sync”
  • A log of each synchronization attempt can be viewed by right-clicking the OneTouchSync icon in the lower right-hand corner and selecting “View Synchronization Log”
