Can Credit Cards With Chips (EMV) Get Wet?

Do you ever use your computer in the rain? Probably not, as we all know that electronics don’t react well to water, which can cause corrosion and short circuits. In fact, Apple is widely known for voiding the warranties for phones that have been exposed to excess moisture. But now that most new credit cards are being issued with embedded microchips, does this mean that we have to take extra precautions to avoid moisture when carrying our credit cards?

Amanda Hagedorn is our Training Coordinator. She was a contracted technical writer for the Army before working at Triple E. She has a bachelor’s degree in English Language and Literature and completed 2 years of schooling to become a teacher including classes like classroom management, assessment, and helping students with special needs.

She is married to Greg Hagedorn who is a delivery driver for a local oil company, and they have 2 kids: Adelyn who is 5 and Charlie who is 4. They also have 2 dogs, Baxter the American Bulldog and Chunk the Chihuahua mix.

They bought a new home in August, and spend a lot of time working on home improvement projects like landscaping, painting, and organizing. In the summer they love to get outside and go boating, camping, hiking and have BBQs.
